Decis 100 insecticide is a non-systemic insecticide that kills insects by touch and absorption. It is one of the most effective insecticide brands from Bayer.

Decis 100 has an active ingredient of Deltametrin. The active ingredient Deltametrin works by disrupting the feeding ability of insects and also destroying their organs which can lead to instant death of the insects.

Decis 100 has been adjudged as one of the most effective synthetic pyrethroid insecticide globally. It has been extensively used in conjunction with other insecticides to fight Tuta Absoluta in tomatoes and Army Worms in maize crop.

How to Use Decis 100 Insecticide

The following steps should be taken while using Decis insecticide:

• A clean knapsack sprayer should be used.
• The knapsack sprayer should be half filled with clean water.
• Add 4ml of Decis insecticide into the 15 litres knapsack sprayer.
• Shake the knapsack sprayer for the insecticide to mix well with the water.
• Fill up the knapsack with clean water and shake vigorously so that insecticide will mix well.
• Carry the knapsack sprayer on your back and spray all the surfaces of the plants and the soil if need be. Ensure that you spray the plants well.
• Decis insecticide should be applied once a week. For highly infested farms, it can be applied to crops 2 – 3 times in a week.

Mode of Action of Decis Insecticide

Decis insecticide acts by contact and ingestion. It destroys the insect’s body and negatively impacts the insect’s nervous system which ultimately leads to death of the insect.

Decis insecticide can also destroy the organs of the insects and ultimately kill the insect.

Recommendation and Rate of Use of Decis Insecticide

Vegetable Crops (Tomato, pepper and cucumber etc.): Decis insecticide can be used to kill Grasshoppers, Leafminers, Caterpillars, Whiteflies, Tuta absoluta and Borers. 0.1 litres to 0.3 litres of Decis insecticide should be used per hectare. Treatment should commence upon sighting the infestation of insects. This should be followed by 2-3 treatments within 14 days.

Broad Acre Crops (Maize, Cotton and Soybeans etc): For these crops, Decis insecticide can be used for Lepidoptera, leafminers, grasshoppers and aphids etc. The first application of Decis on the plants should be 35-45 days after planting; 2-3 treatments can be done within 7 days if the crop is heaviliy infested with insects.
