How to Use Sharp Shooter Insecticide
The following steps should be taken while using Sharp Shooter insecticide:
- A clean knapsack sprayer should be used.
- The knapsack sprayer should be half filled with clean water.
- Add 1 litres of Sharp Shooter insecticide to 200 litres of water. Pour 15 litres of the solution into a 15 litres knapsack sprayer.
- Shake the knapsack sprayer for the insecticide to mix well with the water.
- Fill up the knapsack with clean water and shake vigorously so that insecticide will mix well.
- Carry the knapsack sprayer on your back and spray all the surfaces of the plants and the soil if need be. Ensure that you spray the plants well.
- Sharp Shooter insecticide should be applied once a week. For highly infested farms, it can be applied to crops 2 – 3 times in a week.
Recommendation and Rate of Use of Sharp Shooter Insecticide
Vegetable Crops (Tomato, pepper and okro etc.): Sharp Shooter insecticide can be used to kill Grasshoppers, Leafminers, Caterpillars, Whiteflies, Tuta Absoluta and Borers. 1 – 1.5 litres of Sharp Shooter insecticide should be used per hectare. Treatment should commence upon sighting the infestation of insects. This should be followed by 2-3 treatments within 14 days.
Broad Acre Crops (Maize, Cotton and Soybeans etc): For these crops, Sharp Shooter insecticide can be used for Lepidoptera, leafminers, grasshoppers and aphids etc. The first application of Sharp Shooter on the plants should be 35-45 days after planting; 2-3 treatments can be done within 7 days if the crop is heavily infested with insects.
